Dr. Lone Sørensen

Biography

Lone Wriedt Sørensen is an Associate Professor Emeritus at the University of Copenhagen specializing in Classical Archaeology. She has a strong academic background with a master's degree in Classical Archaeology obtained in 1977 from the Institute of Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology at the University of Copenhagen. Throughout her career, she has held various significant positions, including Instructor at Brock University and Assistant Professor at the Institute of Classical Archaeology at the University of Copenhagen. Her research interests primarily focus on Cyprus and Greece, exploring cultural interactions in the Near East and Aegean regions. Dr. Sørensen has directed several notable excavations and has published extensively on topics related to Cypriot ceramics and archaeological findings in Southern Rhodes. She has received numerous research grants from prestigious organizations such as the Carlsberg Foundation and Humanistic Research Council. Additionally, she actively engages in teaching Classical Archaeology processes and methodologies, emphasizing the delivery of content and extraction of insights. Her linguistic proficiency encompasses Danish, English, German, and French, making her a versatile educator and researcher.
