Biography

Lóránt Tavasszy is a full professor in Freight Transport and Logistics at Delft University of Technology. He studied Civil Engineering and completed his PhD in 1996, focusing on multimodal freight transport models in Europe. From 1996 to 2016, he worked at the Dutch national research institute TNO, where he held positions as researcher, manager, and principal scientist, while also holding part-time chairs at the University of Nijmegen and TU Delft. His research specializes in freight transportation modeling at urban, national, and global levels. At TU Delft, he leads the Freight & Logistics lab, collaborating with researchers from six faculties. Professor Tavasszy is currently the chair of the Scientific Committee for the World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTRS) and is actively involved in several professional committees, including the Sustainability Task Group of the EU Technology Platform ALICE and various scientific advisory groups related to Freight Corridors and Transport Safety. His expertise includes Freight Transport Chains, Logistics, Cities, Supply, and Ports.
