Lorenzo Avellino is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the University of Geneva. His research interests encompass labour history, the political economy of history, and the history of technology. In 2023, he defended his doctoral thesis titled 'On Misunderstood Meaning Freedom: Labour, Quality Theft Lombard Silk Manufactures, 1760–1860,' which earned him the Prix Universal for the best social science dissertation department of the University of Geneva as well as the Prix Ortaggi for the best labour history thesis awarded by the Società Italiana di Storia del Lavoro. His current research examines the relationship between economic thinking and overlooked actors within the context of the fashion industry, industrial policies, and the technological evolution of the European silk trade.
