Biography

Lorenzo DiTommaso received his Ph.D. in Religious Studies from McMaster University in 2002. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Yale University Divinity School and later served as a NEH Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Saint Louis University. DiTommaso joined Concordia University in Montreal as an Assistant Professor in 2004, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2009, and became a full Professor in 2013. He is associated with the university's Jewish Studies and Christianity programs and has been active in academic advisory roles, such as with the Azrieli Institute of Israel Studies. His research focuses on apocalypticism in various cultural contexts, from ancient to contemporary, and considers its expressions in popular culture. DiTommaso has authored and edited numerous volumes and articles, and his work has been supported by various grants. He is also involved in teaching graduate seminars related to religion in popular culture. DiTommaso has organized conferences on topics related to apocalypticism and has supervised graduate students pursuing research in the modern expressions of apocalyptic themes.
