Biography

Lorenzo Moro received a Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Trieste in 2007 and completed his Master’s thesis in 2010, developing a new design method to simulate air-borne noise pollution from ships. He worked as a research assistant at the Ship Noise Vibration Laboratory at the University of Trieste, focusing on dynamic characterization of damping materials for marine applications, and developing new design solutions to improve on-board comfort regarding noise and vibration. His PhD, completed in 2015 at the University of Trieste and ICAM in Nantes, France, centered on the development of new design methods for simulation of structure-borne noise generated by marine diesel engines that are resiliently mounted. He has been involved with the Design Methods Committee of the International Ship Offshore Structures Congress (ISSC) since 2018, and is a member of several professional organizations including the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. His contributions have been recognized with awards such as the ISSC 2015 Award for his excellent report presented to the Technical Committee on Design Methods at the 19th International Ship Offshore Structures Congress.
