Biography

Lori Holt is a Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, where she serves as Chair of the Psychology Department. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1995 and completed her PhD in Cognitive Psychology in 1999. Holt has an extensive background in auditory cognitive neuroscience and was previously a faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University, where she co-directed the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition. Her research focuses on the cognitive and neural processes underlying listening, with a specific interest in how learning and attention shape our ability to communicate and listen effectively. She joined the faculty at UT-Austin in Fall 2023.
