Dr. Lorraine Stigar

Biography

Lorraine Stigar is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health at Purdue University, where they also serve as the Director of Experiential Learning. They earned a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) with a focus on Public Health Leadership from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Their research centers on health education and inclusion access to LGBTQIA+ affirming care. Currently, their work aims to improve health among LGBTQIA+ populations and is conducted through the Center for Rural Migrant Health and the Sexual Health Research Lab at Purdue University. Lorraine has 10 years of experience in public health practice and mixed-methods research, complemented by 5 years of dedication to student engagement across multiple states. They have developed programs that foster community partnerships and civic engagement among students, staff, faculty, and local stakeholders. Their research practice focuses on the development and implementation of inclusive comprehensive sexual health education and professional development practices that affirm LGBTQIA+ community members and healthcare providers.
