Biography

Lotte Jensen researches how Dutch identity has been shaped over the ages. She studies the cultural-historical resources of peace and war, focusing on the impact of disasters such as floods, famines, and epidemics. Her analysis includes the Netherlands' position in Europe. As a full professor of Dutch Cultural Literary History at Radboud University, Jensen is the Principal Investigator of the project 'Dealing with Disasters,' which aims to investigate the impact of natural disasters on Dutch local and national identities from a cultural-historical perspective. Previously, she directed the project 'Proud Dutch,' awarded a VIDI grant from NWO, which examined the roots of nationalism in the Netherlands within the European context.
