Biography

Louis P. Halamek, M.D. is a Professor at Stanford University in the Department of Pediatrics, specializing in Neonatology and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. He completed his medical degree at the Creighton University School of Medicine and his residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He has extensive experience in clinical practice, currently serving at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, where he directs the Neonatal Resuscitation program. His work emphasizes the development of hospital operations centers integrating complex simulation methodologies to enhance human performance in high-stakes environments, particularly in neonatal resuscitation. Dr. Halamek is the founding Director of the Center for Advanced Pediatric and Perinatal Education, focusing on simulation-based training for healthcare professionals. His research interests are centered on risk management, patient safety, and optimization of training for neonatal emergencies. He has held various leadership roles within the American Academy of Pediatrics and has collaborated with NASA on the application of simulated environments for medical training.
