Biography

Loubna El Amine is a lecturer in Political Theory at King's College London, specializing in comparative political theory and the history of political thought, particularly classical Chinese political thought. She has previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Northwestern University and was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Government at Georgetown University. Additionally, she was a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at the Whitney Humanities Center at Yale University. Loubna holds a BA in Political Studies from the American University of Beirut and a PhD in Politics from Princeton University. She is the author of the book 'Classical Confucian Political Thought: New Interpretation,' published in 2015 by Princeton University Press, and is currently working on a new book tentatively titled 'Freedom and Slavery: Status and Membership in the Ancient Confucian Political Community,' which is under contract with Oxford University Press. Loubna has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Henry Luce Foundation/American Council of Learned Societies. Her research interests include theories of the state, culture, gender, and contemporary political theory, with a focus on postcolonial societies.
