After completing his medical training at the University of Montreal in 2006, Louis-Philippe Laurin began his postdoctoral training in internal medicine and nephrology. His interest in glomerulopathies led him to additional training in glomerular diseases and vasculitis at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill under the supervision of Ronald J. Falk and Patrick H. Nachman from 2011 to 2013. His research primarily focuses on prognostic factors and the trajectory of kidney disease in focal segmental hyalinization. Upon returning to Montreal, he completed his research training with a Master's in Epidemiology from McGill University in 2015. Currently, he holds a Junior 2 Clinician-Scientist career award from the FRQS. His research team's program studies the epidemiology of glomerulopathies and established a local registry of patients with glomerular diseases in 2015, enabling local and international projects. His main current research topics involve membranous nephropathy and glomerular damage in patients who have undergone hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Alongside his clinical activities as a nephrologist at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital and the Montreal Heart Institute, he directs a specialized clinic for glomerular diseases at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital.
