Dr. Louis Awad

Biography

Louis N. Awad is an Associate Professor at Boston University in the College of Engineering, specializing in neuromotor recovery research. He has extensive academic training, holding a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University and both a Doctor of Physical Therapy and PhD from the University of Delaware. His postdoctoral training was completed at Harvard University, where he deepened his expertise in the field. Professor Awad's primary appointment is within the Department of Physical Therapy, and he also holds affiliations with the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His research interests focus on understanding recovery mechanisms after neurological injury and developing interventions to enhance motor recovery. Professor Awad directs the Neuromotor Recovery Laboratory, where his team investigates various aspects of movement rehabilitation and Neuroplasticity, aiming to improve patient outcomes through innovative therapy techniques.
