Biography

Louis Bherer is a full professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Montreal, as well as a researcher and director at the Centre ÉPIC, which focuses on preventive medicine and physical activity at the Montreal Heart Institute. He is additionally a researcher and lab director at the Montreal University Institute of Geriatrics. Dr. Bherer completed a Master’s degree in Cognitive Psychology at Laval University, a PhD in Neuropsychology of Aging at the University of Montreal, and a postdoctoral fellowship in Aging Neuroscience at the Beckman Institute, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He held the Canada Research Chair on Aging and the Prevention of Cognitive Decline and was a professor of Neuropsychology at UQAM. From 2012 to 2016, he served as a full professor in Psychology and the first scientific director of the PERFORM center at Concordia University, dedicated to promoting health through lifestyle. His research explores the effects of lifestyle, cognitive stimulation, and physical exercise on cognitive decline associated with normal aging and cardiovascular diseases.
