Biography

Louis Caldera is a Senior Lecturer in Business Administration at Harvard Business School. He teaches Leadership and Corporate Accountability in the MBA program and has previously taught law school courses on corporate governance and the legislative democratic process. His interests center on strengthening democratic institutions, increasing economic opportunities, and building climate resilience. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, Caldera began his public service career as an Army officer and later earned business and law degrees from Harvard University (MBA/JD 1987). He practiced banking and corporate law in Los Angeles before entering California's legislature, where he championed the interests of a multiracial, working-class district. Caldera has served as a COO in the Clinton administration, Secretary of the Army, vice chancellor of the California State University system, and president of the University of New Mexico. He was also part of President Obama's transition team and has contributed to various educational initiatives. Currently, he serves on multiple corporate boards and advocates for immigration policies through the Presidents’ Alliance for Higher Education and Immigration.
