Biography

Louis Corriveau is a specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon. He completed his training in medicine, internship, and ophthalmology at the University of Montreal. Following this, he undertook additional fellowship training in retina in France. Corriveau is a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners (USA) and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology (USA). He was responsible for retinal care and surgeries at Hôtel-Dieu de Montreal and Sainte Justine before continuing his career at Notre-Dame and then at CHUM. He is a pioneer in Montreal for various surgical innovations such as pneumatic retinopexy, the use of liquid perfluorocarbons for retinal detachments, peeling of epiretinal membranes, and combined cataract and vitrectomy surgery for diabetics. He contributed to the description of the principles of canthaxanthine retinopathy.
