Biography

Louisa works as a Research Associate on the project 'Art & Inequality in the Shadow of the Black Death' led by Professor Sam Cohn. She employs palaeography and data analysis skills along with art historical expertise to investigate testamentary dispositions in late medieval and early Renaissance Umbria and Venice. Her broader research focuses on devotional art and material culture in late medieval and Renaissance Europe, with a particular emphasis on Italy. Louisa explores the conjunctions of material, meaning, function, and workshop organization, as well as the practice relating to technical and aesthetic exchanges of media. She has experience teaching history of art and palaeography, as well as digital humanities techniques to audiences including undergraduates and GLAM professionals. Trained in Theology at King's College London and with an MA in Art History from University College London, Louisa recently completed her LAHP-funded PhD (2023) in History of Art at the Warburg Institute. Additionally, Louisa contributes to various media outlets focusing on arts, culture, and the history of fashion.
