Louise Kathrine Folker Christensen is a PhD student at the Copenhagen Centre for Health Research Humanities (CoRe), affiliated with the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. Her primary research interests lie in the field of medical humanities, particularly exploring the interdisciplinary connections between health and culture. Currently, she is part of a research co-creation project named Lifelong Oral Health, which aims to address widespread oral health issues among citizens in Danish eldercare through the development of relevant initiatives. Her work incorporates qualitative ethnographic methods to investigate the relationship between oral health and quality of life, focusing on themes such as shame, stigma, and social inequalities related to health and aging. Christensen has begun to examine oral health as a biocultural phenomenon within a theoretical framework of medical humanities, seeking to understand how health transcends traditional boundaries of healthcare and interacts with various cultural, social, and economic divisions.
