Biography

Professor Louise Fawcett specializes in International Relations and is a Fellow at St Catherine's College, University of Oxford. She is the Director of the Oxford Martin School’s ‘Changing Global Orders’ programme and serves on various academic and editorial boards, including the International Affairs editorial board and the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA). Her research focuses on comparative regionalism within the context of the Global South, with particular emphasis on the Middle East. Among her notable publications are 'Iran Cold War' (2009), 'Regionalism in World Politics' (1995), and the sixth edition of 'International Relations in the Middle East' published in 2023. Professor Fawcett is actively engaged in teaching, contributing to the MPhil and DPhil programmes in International Relations, and has supervised theses across a variety of subjects related to International Relations and International History. Her professional activities extend to advisory roles within the United Nations University and involvement with the Belgian Royal Academy. Despite her extensive experience, she is not currently accepting new DPhil students.
