Louise Mønster is broadly interested in Danish and Nordic literature, with a particular focus on Danish and Nordic poetry from the 19th century to the present. Her research has concentrated on modernist lyric poetry from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, as well as the diverse expressions of contemporary poetry since 2000. Notably, she has explored lyrical forms that transcend genres, art forms, and media, reflected in her publication 'New Nordic. Poetry of the 21st Century' (2016). In 2022, she completed a research project on poetry reading and social communities, funded by the Arts Council and the Norwegian Cultural Council, leading to the publication of 'Poetry Readings and Communities,' co-authored with Michael Kallesøe Schmidt and Hans Kristian S. Rustad. She has also engaged in a research project on Henrik Nordbrandt's authorship, with support for a monographic scholarship from the Carlsberg Foundation. Mønster's current work involves various sociological, media ecological, and political themes related to Danish and Nordic poetry. She is an editor for the forthcoming 'Routledge Companion to Nordic Literature' and leads the research group 'Literature, Media, and Society' at Aalborg University. Additionally, she is a member of the Literature Grant Committee of the Arts Council from 2024 to 2027 and chairs the literary institution Den Litterære Institution (USS) as well as the editorial board of the literary journal Passage.
