Biography

Louise Papillon-Ferland obtained her Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from the University of Montreal in 2001 and completed her Master's in Pharmaceutical Practice (Health Establishment option) in 2002. She then undertook a specialized residency in geriatrics at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) and the University Institute of Geriatrics of Montreal. Since 2004, she has been practicing at the MUHC, providing pharmaceutical care initially in a geriatric short-term unit and then as part of a geriatric consultation team. She has participated in implementing the 'Age-Appropriate Care' approach at the MUHC, particularly through training nurses and monitoring indicators such as the use of sedatives and antipsychotics. A member of the Group of Expert Pharmacists in Geriatrics of the Association of Pharmacists in Health Establishments of Quebec since 2018, she has supervised numerous Pharm D students and residents in advanced pharmacotherapy as part of their internships. Committed to teaching geriatrics to future pharmacists, Louise has served as a lecturer at the pharmacy faculty in Montreal for several years. In September 2019, she was appointed Associate Clinical Professor in Geriatrics at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Montreal and joined the team at the University Institute of Geriatrics of Montreal.
