Louise Siddons is a Professor of Visual Politics and the Head of the Department of Art & Media Technology at the Winchester School of Art. She also serves as the director of the Winchester Gallery. Siddons's research is centered on intersectional visual resistance and the structures of marginalization in modernity, addressing topics from the eighteenth century to the present. Before joining the University of Southampton, she was a Visiting Researcher at the University of Sussex Humanities Lab and previously held the position of Professor of Art History at Oklahoma State University, where she was a founding co-director and curator of the Oklahoma State University Museum of Art. Her upcoming book, 'Good Pictures Strong Weapon' (University of Minnesota Press, 2024), explores the intersections of lesbian and Navajo sovereignty politics through the lens of mid-century photographer Laura Gilpin. Siddons's research has been funded by various grants including those from the British Library, the Terra Foundation for American Art, the National Endowments for the Arts and Humanities, and the US-UK Fulbright Commission.
