Dr. Lu Zhang

Biography

Lu Zhang is a Professor of Practice in Chemistry at NYU Shanghai, specializing in the mechanisms by which chemical carcinogens damage DNA and the human nucleotide excision repair system processes that protect the genome from lesions. Prior to her current role, she served as a Teaching Assistant at New York University, where she contributed to the academic development of students in the field of chemistry. Professor Zhang holds a PhD in Molecular Biochemistry from New York University and a BS from Jilin University. Her research has been published in prestigious journals such as Nano Letters, Chemistry – European Journal, Molecular Biology, and Nucleic Acids Research. She is a recipient of the Henry M. MacCracken Graduate Fellowship from New York University, reflecting her commitment to advancing the field of chemistry through research and teaching. In addition to her research activities, Professor Zhang teaches various courses in chemistry, including Foundations of Science, Organic Chemistry, and Food Science, ensuring that she fosters a robust learning environment for her students.
