Biography

Luan Luu is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Biomedical Science at Macquarie University, where he investigates potential therapeutics for Spinocerebellar Ataxia type 3. After completing his PhD at the University of Melbourne, where he studied the Amyloid Precursor Protein in Alzheimer’s Disease, he joined Angela Laird's lab at Macquarie University. His research focuses on therapeutics that enhance macroautophagy processes to degrade pathogenic misfolded proteins and restore cellular homeostasis. He has developed cellular models for Spinocerebellar Ataxia type 3 to screen potential therapeutics and has conducted trials in animal models of the disease.
