Biography

Luanne Sinnamon is an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia in the School of Information within the Faculty of Arts. She completed her PhD at the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto and holds a Master of Library Science degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, along with a Master's degree in Russian history from Carleton University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Toronto. Professor Sinnamon teaches courses focusing on information retrieval and information services, with a particular emphasis on open data. Her research primarily explores the human-centered aspects of information retrieval, investigating how people interact with and make sense of digital information. Since 2015, she has also served as the Director of UBC iSchool, coordinating initiatives that intersect with evolving language dynamics and the information economy.
