Dr. Luben Dimcheff

Biography

Luben Dimcheff is a Senior Lecturer at Cornell University, where he focuses on a range of academic research areas, including architectural design, architectural practice, architectural representation, and visual representation. He co-authored 'Model Perspectives: Structure, Architecture Culture' published by Routledge in 2017. Dimcheff is also the principal of Luben Dimcheff Studio, which manages design work on various residential and commercial projects in cities like New York, Cayuga Heights, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Karachi. His professional experience includes being a founding partner at Dimcheff Smith Architecture and serving as a senior associate at Smith-Miller + Hawkinson Architects. He has worked on notable projects such as the Houses of Sagaponac and the Hospital for Special Surgery building in Manhattan. Dimcheff has actively contributed to academic discourse on design pedagogy, empathy in design, and cultivated intuition, presenting at conferences like the ACSA National Conference and the International ACSA/EAAE Teachers Conference. He has also conducted workshops and lectured in several prestigious institutions worldwide, including a visiting fellowship at the University of Pisa in 2022.
