Biography

After an undergraduate degree in Belgium, Professor Bauwens did a Master of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia in 1986 and a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of California at Berkeley in 1989, both in mechanical engineering. He has been at the University of Calgary since 1992 and was promoted to professor in 1999. From 2013 to 2017, he served as the president of the Institute for the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems.
