Biography

Luc Mallet is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva, specializing in psychiatry with a research focus on neuroscience. He trained as a psychiatrist and later pursued post-doctoral training in experimental psychology at CNRS before joining INSERM in 2004, where he was promoted to research director in 2009. His research primarily involves the behavioral aspects of deep brain stimulation in humans and the development of innovative psychiatric treatments. Since 2008, he has directed the BEBG (Behavior, Emotion, Basal Ganglia) team at the Brain Institute (ICM), which focuses on identifying processes linked to psychopathy and developing treatment methods for severe neuropsychiatric disorders that are resistant to traditional medical therapy. His work has received several accolades, including the Marcel Dassault Prize for research in mental health in 2013 and the Philippe Maria Halphen Great Prize from the French Academy of Sciences in 2015. Mallet has also published extensively on deep brain stimulation, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and related neuropsychiatric disorders, contributing significantly to the understanding of these conditions.
