Luc Martin is a Professor in the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen's University. His research interests lie in the general area of sport psychology with a particular focus on group dynamics principles. He is specifically interested in the psychosocial influences present in sport and physical activity settings, exploring how individuals are influenced by and influence the groups to which they belong. His current projects involve investigating group processes, cohesion, cliques, social identity, and leadership, particularly in relation to individual and team-level outcomes in child, youth, and elite sport populations. Overall, his main focus is on developing an understanding of psychosocial factors to inform interdisciplinary, policy-relevant research aimed at enriching sporting environments. Luc is currently accepting applications from prospective graduate students and encourages successful applicants to apply for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. Furthermore, he is involved in several funding opportunities including the SSHRC and the Mitacs-Accelerate Graduate Research Internship Program.
