Biography

Luc Proteau is recognized for his outstanding teaching quality and his innovative research, as well as his commitment to his institution and department. He was a professor at the School of Kinesiology and Physical Activity Sciences at the Université de Montréal from 1990 until his retirement in December 2018. His research focuses on motor control, a field where his expertise is widely recognized. Over his career, he has received numerous grants, particularly from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, which supported his work throughout. He is the author of approximately one hundred articles and has been a sought-after speaker at both national and international conferences. His presidency of the Quebec Association for Physical Activity Sciences and the Canadian Society for Motor Learning and Sport Psychology, along with the Fellow title awarded to him by the society, reflect his reputation for excellence in his field. As director of the Department of Kinesiology, he oversaw its integration into the Faculty of Medicine in 2018, leading to the establishment of the School of Kinesiology and Physical Activity Sciences, and significantly contributed to the restructuring of both the bachelor's and master's programs in kinesiology.
