Biography

Luca Casagrande is an Associate Director of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access at the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Australian National University (ANU). He earned his Master's degree in Physics from the University of Turin in Italy and completed his PhD in Astronomy at the University of Turku in Finland. Before joining ANU in 2012, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics. Casagrande's research focuses on understanding how the Milky Way formed and evolved over billions of years by analyzing the properties, chemical compositions, motions, and ages of stars, clusters, and streams. He actively supervises research students and contributes significantly to collaborative research projects that enhance the understanding of astrophysics and stellar evolution.
