Biography

Luca Crivelli, PhD, is an economist specialized in public health policy and health insurance social policy research. He serves as a head department professor at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland and as a titular professor at Università della Svizzera italiana. He is also the Deputy Director of the Swiss School of Public Health+ (SSPH+). From 1999 to 2014, he served as the scientific director of the MAS program Net-MEGS and from 2008 to 2014, he chaired the international Summer School on Public Health Policy, Economics, and Management, which was supported by scholarships provided by the Swiss Development Cooperation Agency. In 2004, he became an active policy analyst within the international health policy reform network and since 2011, he has led the Health Systems Polices Monitor under the European Observatory on Health Systems Policies. He served on the advisory committee for the Swiss conference of cantonal health ministers from 2004 to 2007, focusing on ongoing reforms in Swiss health insurance, and in 2013, he became a member of the experts' committee for the National health policy strategy 'Gesundheit2020'. Crivelli is also involved in editorial capacities for several scholarly journals including Health Policy, Politiche Sanitarie, International Review of Economics, Journal of Civil Economy, and the International Journal of Public Health.
