Biography

Luca Ghiretti is a doctoral candidate at the University of Basel, involved in the Swiss National Science Foundation research project "Conviviality Motion". His research focuses on how Christian communities, which exhibit high diversity due to migration in terms of language, culture, theology, and traditions, organize their coexistence. Ghiretti's work combines an ethnographic study of two communities with a historical document analysis, aiming to analyze the long-term intercultural process of the Waldensian Church. This merger of Methodist and Waldensian communities in Italy is monitored in relation to changing policies since the 1980s. Additionally, his ethnographic analysis will explore different convivial strategies for addressing diversity, emphasizing practices and theologies of conviviality.
