Biography

Luca Montagner holds a PhD in Humanities and is a specialist in History and Forms of Written Communication at the Università Cattolica di Milano. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Theology in Lugano, an institution affiliated with the Università della Svizzera italiana. His current work involves the reorganization and enhancement of the diocesan library in Lugano. Montagner has dedicated part of his research to the history of antiquarianism, publishing significant contributions including monographs such as 'L’antiquariato Hoepli: una prima ricognizione tra documenti e cataloghi' (EduCatt, 2017) and 'Beniamino Burstein. Libraio e intellettuale Lugano' (Biblioteca Cantonale, 2019). His recent publications include the catalog 'Inter prima artis incunabula. Catalogo delle edizioni quattrocentesche della Biblioteca diocesana di Lugano' (Biblioteca diocesana, 2021) and the volume 'Metter proporzione l’enciclopedia dei talenti con quella dei libri'. The latter, published in 2023, is a result of his doctoral research. Since 2022, he has been a member of the Italian Society of Bibliographic and Library Sciences (SISBB).
