Biography

Luca Sorelli is a structural engineer and has been a full professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Laval University since 2009. He previously worked as an engineer in the structural durability division at IFSTTAR in Paris, at the Department of Civil Engineering at MIT in Cambridge, and at the Lafarge research center in Lyon. His research interests include: (i) multiscale approaches for the development of cementitious composites, e.g., ecological ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) with local industrial by-products; (ii) monitoring and repair technologies for structures using impermeable and ultra-durable UHPC reinforcement layers; (iii) numerical analysis, design, and optimization of composite structures for applications in architecture and civil engineering. As an expert, he has consulted on several civil engineering works involving UHPC in France and Canada.
