Dr. Lucas Meijs

Biography

Lucas C.P.M. Meijs is a professor specializing in Strategic Philanthropy and Volunteering at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam. His research focuses on strategic philanthropy, volunteer management, corporate community involvement, and lifelong development. He served as the non-American co-editor of the Nonprofit Voluntary Action Quarterly and is a member of the Raad voor Maatschappelijke Ontwikkeling, an advisory body to the Dutch government. Lucas has been a guest researcher at the Centre of Philanthropy and Non-profit Studies at Queensland University of Technology in Australia and has held visiting scholar positions at the University of Georgia. He teaches courses on NGO and NPO management and serves as a consultant in social entrepreneurship at both bachelor and master levels. Meijs actively contributes to discussions on volunteering, including recognizing its value in the Dutch society and addressing its challenges amidst contemporary issues. His work emphasizes the importance of volunteerism as a vital component of social cohesion and community support.
