Dr. Lucia Corsini

Biography

Lucia Corsini is a Professor in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford and the Head of the Circular Economy Sustainability Lab. She has an extensive academic background including a BA, MEng, MA, and a PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge. Her research mainly focuses on Systems Engineering, Design, and the Circular Economy, addressing the challenges associated with sustainable production and consumption, critical raw materials, and waste management. She has led significant research projects, exemplified by a £2.1 million funding from UKRI and a £1.56 million UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship, which aims to contribute to a low-carbon Circular Economy in Electrical and Electronic Equipment. Before her current role, she was a Reader in Product Design Engineering at Brunel University London and has held various research positions at University of Cambridge and Saïd Business School. Beyond academia, Lucia has worked with various industries including Siemens and Jaguar Land Rover, contributing to multiple sustainability initiatives. She is recognized for her commitment to education, evidenced by awards like the 2019 Cambridge University Outstanding Student Contribution Education Award and a Fellowship from Advance in 2024. As a public speaker and advisor, she has contributed to discussions at national and international platforms regarding sustainability policies and technological innovations.
