Dr. Luciana Fellin

Biography

Luciana Fellin is a Professor of Practice in the Department of Romance Studies at Duke University, specializing in Italian Linguistics. She serves as the Director of the Italian Language Program and has been actively involved in advancing language education since 2016. Her academic journey began with a Laurea in English and German Literature from the University of Bologna, followed by a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona, where she focused on sociolinguistics, specifically investigating language socialization practices and dialect revival in Italy. Throughout her career, she has taught at notable universities including the University of Trento, the University of Bologna, and San Diego State University. Her research interests cover various aspects of sociolinguistics and language education, emphasizing experiential learning and reflective teaching methodologies. Fellin’s contributions to the field include numerous publications that explore collaborative projects and student-centered pedagogical approaches.
