Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Lucien Breems. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Lucien Breems is a part-time Professor in the Sigma-Delta Analog-to-Digital Conversion Mixed Signal Microelectronics research group at Eindhoven University of Technology. He focuses on improving smart converters based on sigma-delta modulation (SDMs) by applying new limit-cycle theory and optimally correcting loop filters in feedback DA converters. His work enhances stability estimation and identifies new incremental methods along with highly accurate decoding techniques for DC sensing in SDMs. His research group investigates ultra-high-speed SDM AD converters, utilizing novel architectures to significantly alleviate design requirements related to meta-stability errors and excess loop delay DAC jitter. Additionally, the group derives and implements high-speed, high-resolution AD converter architectures using a novel parallel sampling technique that exploits the input signal distribution function. There is also a dedicated effort towards developing low power AD converters aiming for world record precision, based on oversampled successive approximation techniques for noise reduction and linearity enhancement. Collaboration with the Holst Centre has led to advancements in AD converters for implantable medical applications, as well as flexible-speed AD converters for multi-standard radio applications.
