Biography

Lucio Piccirillo graduated from the University of Rome in 1985, focusing his thesis on measurements of photon noise in Cosmic Microwave Background radiation. He has a varied work experience, starting as a teacher of Digital Electronics for the Italian Air Force before moving on to roles at the Italian Telecommunication Government ministry and the European Space Agency. Subsequently, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Bartol Research Institute in the University of Delaware and held a Visiting Professorship at the University of Wisconsin. Following this, he was a Senior Lecturer and Reader at Cardiff University before being appointed as a Professor at the University of Manchester. His research interests include Experimental Cosmology, detection and characterization of polarization properties of Cosmic Microwave Background radiation, and the development of technologies for astronomical instrumentation.
