Biography

Lucio Piccirillo graduated from the University of Rome in 1985, focusing on measurements of photon noise in the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation. He served as a teacher in Digital Electronics in the Italian Airforce from 1985 to 1986 before becoming a researcher in the Italian Telecommunication Government ministry until 1989. His international experience includes being a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the European Space Agency and holding positions as Assistant Professor at the Bartol Research Institute, University of Delaware, and as a Visiting Professor at the University of Wisconsin. In 2000, he became a Senior Lecturer/Reader at Cardiff University and has been a Professor at the University of Manchester since 2006. His main research interests lie in Experimental Cosmology and the development of novel technologies for astronomical instrumentation, focusing on the detection and characterization of Cosmic Microwave Background radiation and ultra-high energy neutrinos.
