Biography

Dr. Lucy Marzban is an Associate Professor at the College of Pharmacy, University of Manitoba, focusing her research on translational pharmacotherapy and practice related to diabetes and β-cell health. Her research program investigates the mechanisms through which islet amyloid affects the viability of insulin-producing β-cells. Dr. Marzban aims to develop new therapies to enhance long-term survival of islet grafts for diabetes patients. Previously, she served as an Assistant and then Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia, where she contributed to several awards and research advancements in the field of medical laboratory sciences and pharmacy. Dr. Marzban's educational journey includes a Doctorate in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Toronto Mississauga and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of British Columbia. In addition, she has completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of British Columbia and the University of Geneva. She has received numerous accolades for her teaching and research contributions, including the Killam Prize and the New Investigator Award from Diabetes Canada.
