Lucy is a volcanologist and economic geologist with a focus on volcanology and low viscosity magmas. Her research encompasses various aspects of physical volcanology, including kimberlite pipes and the roots of old volcanoes. Her primary research area includes several kimberlite pipes in the Lac de Gras field, Northwest Territories. Lucy has visited active volcanoes around the world, enriching her research experiences. After joining UBC in September 2009, she held a Commonwealth Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and later a European Union Marie Curie Research Fellowship, studying low viscosity magmas, Hawaiian basalts, and carbonatites in collaboration with researchers from Bristol University, UK.
