Biography

Ludvic Zrinzo is the Clinical Academic Head of the UCL Functional Neurosurgery Unit. He completed his undergraduate medical studies in Malta (MD - 1995) and moved to London to pursue a career in Neurosurgery. He was awarded an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience with Distinction from the UCL Institute of Neurology, London, and began his neurosurgical training in London. Zrinzo has also completed fellowships in Stereotactic Functional Neurosurgery at the UCL Institute of Neurology and Queen Square, as well as in the United States. He was appointed Consultant Neurosurgeon at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in 2007 and became the Head of the Functional Neurosurgery Unit in 2018. His current research interests include the surgical management of chronic neurological and psychiatric diseases, especially in advanced Parkinson's disease, dystonia, tremor, chronic pain, headache, and treatment-resistant depression. Zrinzo's work has led to 175 peer-reviewed publications, and he has received numerous awards for his contributions to neuroscience, including Malta’s highest honor, the National Order of Merit.
