Ludwig Paul is a professor of Iranian Studies at the University of Hamburg's Asia-Africa Institute, a position he has held since December 2004. He studied Iranian Studies and Linguistics at the University of Göttingen from 1986 to 1995 and earned his doctorate in 1996 with a thesis on the grammar and dialectology of the Zazaki language, spoken in eastern Anatolia. He oversees multiple research projects regarding Persian in the Ottoman Empire, Luri documentation, classical period dialect literature, and the philological study of medieval Iranian poetry. Paul has been actively involved in numerous academic initiatives and continues to contribute significantly to the field of Iranian Studies through his research and publications.
