Luigi Corrias is an Associate Professor of Legal Theory and Legal History at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He obtained an LL.M. in International European Law in 2002 and a Master's in Philosophy of Law with distinction in 2004. He completed his PhD in Philosophy in 2010 at Tilburg University. Corrias specializes in the philosophy of transnational law, focusing particularly on philosophical issues in international criminal law, European integration, and constitutional theory. His dissertation won the Prize for Dissertation in Legal Philosophy in the Netherlands-Belgium in 2009-10. Corrias has held visiting scholar positions at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Citizenship and Minorities in Ottawa and the School of International Relations in St Andrews. He teaches and supervises Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, co-supervises PhD students, and coordinates the Research Track in Law. His current research includes a project on dehumanization in international law, which has received a fellowship from the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences. He is active in academic community contributions as an associate editor of the Netherlands Journal of Legal Philosophy and has engaged in numerous editorial and review activities. His research interests align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, contributing to global efforts to combat poverty and protect the planet.
