Biography

Luis Agellon received his Bachelor of Science and PhD degrees in Biology from McMaster University, completing his postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University. He has held faculty positions at Columbia University and the University of Alberta before joining the faculty at McGill University. His research focuses on the role of nutrients and non-nutrient plant metabolites in controlling gene expression and cellular metabolism, as well as their implications for health and metabolic diseases, such as obesity and diabetes. Through engineered vivo models, his lab investigates how dietary components regulate gene expression and metabolic functions, aiming to develop effective nutritional strategies to promote health and alleviate metabolic disorders.
