Biography

Dr. Luis Da Luz completed his Medical degree in General Surgery residency in Brazil. In Canada, he completed a Trauma Surgery Fellowship and a Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at the University of Toronto. He also obtained a Master of Science degree from the Institute of Medical Sciences and another from the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Surgery and a Staff Physician at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, as well as an Associate Scientist at Sunnybrook Research Institute. His research program focuses on the initial management of severely bleeding coagulopathic trauma patients, emphasizing trauma resuscitation and improvement of team performance. He is currently the Principal Investigator in a multicenter trial in Canada assessing the use of clotting factor concentrates in bleeding coagulopathic trauma patients.
