Biography

Luis Manuel González is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Anthropology at The University of British Columbia. He is also a Research Associate at the Archaeology Centre of the University of Toronto. With decades of research experience in the Andes, he has served as a director and supervisor for archaeological projects in various regions of Peru, including Lima, Chilca, Nasca, Cajamarca, La Libertad, and Arequipa since 2009. His research interests focus on the development of complex civilizations and regional interactions in the Andes, particularly during the Early Intermediate Period (EIP) and the Middle Horizon Period, with the objective of understanding local interaction strategies among the Lima, Moche, Nasca, and Wari societies. Additionally, he has interests in bioarchaeology, mortuary practices, paleopathology, foodways, architecture, and archaeoastronomy.
