Dr. Luis Rodriquez Rojas

Biography

Luis Miquel Rodriquez-Rojas earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the National University of Colombia, specializing in Conservation Ecology and Molecular Plant Pathology. He pursued a Master of Science in Microbiology at Los Andes University, Colombia, and later obtained another Master’s in Applied Informatics from the University of Montpellier, France. He then earned his Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Following his doctoral work, he completed a 1.5-year postdoctoral fellowship. Currently, he serves as a Research Engineer at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech. He has authored numerous papers and book chapters, receiving around a thousand citations with an h-index of 23. Rodriquez-Rojas has presented at various workshops and symposia on microbiome analysis, engaging with both researchers and undergraduate educators. He has also acted as a reviewer for several international journals. In addition, he has developed a variety of bioinformatics tools and web interfaces that support grid and cloud computing, with substantial usage reflected by 6,000 downloads and numerous online queries per month.
