Biography

Lukas Bichler received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Manufacturing and Materials Solid Mechanics from Toronto Metropolitan University. After graduation, he was awarded the NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship, which he completed in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Toronto. Currently, he is a Professor at the School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. His laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for processing aluminum and magnesium alloys, as well as advanced ceramics and functionally graded materials. His contributions extend to the understanding of material properties through various innovative techniques including neutron and X-ray diffraction, and electron microscopy. Dr. Bichler has authored numerous publications across multiple esteemed journals, solidifying his expertise in manufacturing processes, materials science, and related engineering principles.
